ADJECTIVES (SIFATLAR) COMPARATIVE AND SUPERLATIVE FORMS


Sıfatların "comparative" ve "superlative" formları İngilizce'de farklı nesneleri mukayese etmek için kullanılır. Comparative form iki nesne arasında farkları anlatmak için kullanılır.
Örnek: New York is more excitin than Seattle (New York Seattle'dan daha heyecanlıdır.)

Superlative form ise üç veya daha fazla şey hakkında konuşurken "en" uzun, "en" kısa gibi ifadelerle bir tanesini ayırmak için kullanılır.
Örnek: New York is the most exciting city in the USA
(New York Amerika'nın en heyecan verici şehridir.)

Comparative adjective'lerin kullanımıyla ilgili aşağıdaki tabloya bakınız.


Tek heceli sıfatlar;

Sıfatın sonuna "er" ekleyin

Örnek: cheap - cheaper / hot - hotter / high - higher

Örnek cümleler
Yesterday was hotter than today.
(Dün bugünden daha sıcaktı)


İki, üç veya daha çok heceli sıfatlar;
Sıfattan önce "more" getirin
Örnek: interesting - more interesting / difficult


Örnek cümleler
London is more expensive than Madrid.
(Londra Madrid'den daha pahalıdır)



Sonu "y" ile biten iki heceli sıfatlar;
Sıfatın sonundaki "y" harfini kaldırın, yerine "ier" getirin
Örnek: happy - happier / funny - funnier

I am happier than you.
(Ben senden daha mutluyum)
